Well, a soaker team can be however big you want it to be. I guess the average size is around 5-10 people. My group in particular grows every now and then. Creating one isn't too hard. Just go up to a couple of your friends and ask if they would like to join. It's as simple as that.

Edit: I think this should be moved to wars.

My squad is only 4 people, including me. I prefer this even when going against larger enemys. I chose quality over quanity, and made sure that all the people on my squad were well trained and had a good arsenal. The 4 person team works out quite well. I'm the sniper, we've got an HWO, and 2 people who act as scout/grunts.

With a small team defending a base would be hard wouldn't it?
Out of the two people that would join my team know problem one would be a sniper/scout and the other would be a HWO or a heavy forward and I would be a HWO, a heavy forward or a sniper.

Yes, its pretty hard to defend a base with only 4 people, but with the right blockades and weapons (WBL or water balloon and lax stick B) ) It can be done. Also, when we have wars, we do a variety of types of games, such as Protect the King/VIP.

We all have weapons that would work for those positions.

Out of experience, I don't really think it is necessary to give people roles such as the 'HWO' or 'Sniper'. As long as you have a big CPS, you can be either, and if you are really a good player, you will do multiple tasks (scouting, sniping, e.t.c.). As for the size of your team, get as many as possible ( as long as they are half decent. )

From personal experience, a base can be defended by a mere 2 people, and with regular CPS soakers. [If the other team also has the same amount of people].

There are very good points in there. Do not give out roles, you should be able to switch and take on multiple positions based on weaponry. Consider this when putting together a team: You can't replace 1 veteran with 2 newbies. Yeah, a new team has little-no vets, but certain people seem to have more battlefield sense than others. These kinds of people get good quick, possibly after just a single battle. When recruiting, look for those who have tactical sense and can pick up fighting skills fast. 5 good quality members will defeat a team of 10 inexperienced ones 9/10 times, so bigger is not always better.

My team has grown to 4 people, all of us very skilled with great weapons. Last weekend we fought of 9 kids and won. One of my teammates had a cps1000, one had a cps1200, one had a big storm gun, and I had my FF and Dev, just to test them out in combat. The other team was poorly controled so even though they had cps soakers, we still won. :)

Well at the moment I have 3 people on my team. Its about the best I can get at the moment since not many people who I know live around our area and some some aren't even interested in soaking. ;)

But I suppose we all get on well and that is vital to a team. If you have not too good relationships with each other its just the recipe to loose in a war. ;)

If you can play multiple roles in a water gun fight you are more likely to win.
Instead of being an expert sniper, why not be an expert at everything?
It's only water guns here :P , Sniping is no hard task if you have some common sense, and patience.

Just my opinion...

This is what we like to call specialists, who are good at different aspects of water warfare and can adapt quickly in a situation. Sniping also cannot be fully eliminated, it's always an option in some spots. I know we still snipe where applicable, and then get out men out of the area. It's not impractical, just hard to pull off without being seen.

People should be able to do just about any position. The only one I can't do is scout as I am tall (6'1) and the battlefield I fight in is rather small with lots of close quarters combat so I don't like being out in the open scouting out people. I do most of the ambushing. :p h34r:
