It's a bit early to know. In all likelihood, we'll only find out in January.

If we knew anything, believe me, it'd be plastered all over the forums and the thread about it would be among the most discussed threads.

It's never too early to look for leaked information. For example, we learned of the 2005 line because a 2005 line blaster was sold on eBay. The photos from the back showed the entire 2005 line.

As long as they don't reissue the XP backfire, we should be in good shape. :D

All kidding aside, looks like they've had some decent designs as of late, so who knows.

I really hope that they come out with powerful soakers this year, recently all of the designs except WW have been quite crappy (no offense or anything). Even guns like the PulseMaster, Vindicator, and Expedition are a notch above most, but not as powerful as a CPS. And SS has way overused the general "Flash Flood" concept with two nozzles, a "Flood" and a "Stream.". And build a nozzle selector for heaven's sake! Sorry I'm getting so worked up, but how hard as it!

Anyway, let's just hope for the best!

I think we go through the same thing just about every year...the anticipation builds as we start to get excited about the possibility of a return to what made the 98's so great...to, much of the time, only be disappointed, year after year. Might be interesting to see if there were any years that actually delivered. Not too much is coming to mind. Was it 2001 (?) that the Monster X and XL were released? That was probably the closest we've come.

Yes, it just gains disappointment each year. I just really want them to make a super powerful soaker. That's really all I want, and all I've wanted for a while.

What is your definition of a "super powerful soaker"? CPS-2000-like? Super Cannon II-like? More? ...and how much would you be willing to pay for such a water blaster?

I mean stronger than current guns, like Flash Flood. Not Supercannon II strength, but CPS strength would be nice. Super Cannon strength is dangerous in wars, in my opinion. I would enjoy a 21-century CPS powered gun a lot. Wouldn't it be great? I would pay up to fifty dollars.

The Monster X and Monster XL especially, in my opinion, are NOT good soakers, so I dont know if 2001 was a good year or what, though certainly better than most. I am looking to get ahold of a monster, which is, believe it or not, the best of the line. Just because the two ridiculously sized mosnters are big, does not make them good guns. Would you buy a car just to have the biggest car? No, of course not. Power and durability matter too. Of the two monster Xs I've bought used, both of them had problems with squirting with each pump, and one had a snapped trigger. Larami made a ploy to trick people into thinking bigger is better. Any SS enthusiast will say this is untrue, but at the same time we cannot deny the child like Freudian glee of having the largest gun ever. Even if it costs us into the hundreds of dollars, and doesnt work so good.

As for what will appear in 2010, I think that given the economy and general pessimistic state of things, we will be seeing two trends:

1: Cheaper, smaller water guns, hopefully less complicated.
2: Traditional stylings. Whether this means going retro towards the older SSs (as with the SS50 20th Anniversary) or just continuing the styling of the current lines is debatable. People find tradition to be comforting in troubled times.

I would not look for large powerful and expensive guns this year, nor would I expect any industry changing models to appear. It IS possible that these are in development, but they will likely be released in 2011 when the economy will (hopefully) be back on track and folks will have more disposable income to spend on expensive toys.

Meh, I'm not as big of a fan of the Monster...had a terribly uncomfortable handle and weak pump rails. Sure the Monster X was bigger, but it was incredibly durable...which rates high to me.

What was your experience owning the monster X? from what I've seen the trigger on it looks brittle and so does the part that makes it not dribble water. Its a good gun don't get me wrong, but my ratings would go Monster, Monster X and then Monster XL in order from favorite to least favorite. Then again all I have to rely on is the online reports from owners for hte Monster, I still have to get one of those.

I suppose compared to some of the CPS line, the Monsters are a bit underpowered for their size. And the MXL was just made to show off. Never mind kids wanting the biggest, it seems the grown-ups at the company wanted the biggest! I wonder if Buzz Bee will ever try and outdo it?

Buzz Bee is on their way, with guns like the Vindicator. Add a few feet, make some more nozzles and you've got it, pretty much. Of course, I would make it more powerful as well.

Youre right that the monster line is geared more towards teens and adults, the weight alone making that pretty clear. One would think an adult line of guns would have had adult power and range, but nope.

I agree the flood feature is under done. To make this viable I think what is really needed is a separate air chamber behind a small xp type cylinder of pressurized water. The two could be comined into a real shotgun blast that would result in greater spread and range.,
