Could a sword made of sponge that's soaked in water make a decent handheld water weapon sidearm? I think it would be kind of cool.
By the way, it doesn't have to be a sword. It could be a mace or something. That would be especially useful.

For our wars, buckets and bottle splashings are as close as we allow to melee attacks.
One of my friends thought of having a PVC stick wrapped in foam, then covered with attached water balloons and using it as a sword. I refuse to let that happen though.
