First Homemade

Post by CROC » Sun Sep 10, 2006 11:21 am

Yesterday I made a piston homemade from m15399's site. The basic syringe gun, just slightly smaller (I think). I had to use CPVC instead of sch. 40 PVC. It works well, and I want more nozzles, but they are $1cad ea., making them expensive, as the gun itself only cost me about $10cad. I dont know if I really want to be spending about $3 for 2 more nozzles, so I might just have to deal with mine as is (I'm drilling the nozzle to 11/64" today).

Nice...PPPs are guns that give you just about the most bang for your buck, although I'd have to say the X-Stream Blastmaster 660 does come close.

What's the ID? What range are you getting? A better selection of nozzles, size usually dependent on trial-and-error and on your strength, will help you maximize range and get a reasonable selection. I personally would get at least 2 nozzles, if only for a meager selection. I'm currently only using 3 on my mini APH, but I'm still experimenting with them.

That is pretty expensive, but you might be able to get packs that have a lot in them for the future.

ID is about 11/16ths (I accidentally made the nozzle 1/4", so it's around 10x). Range, I haven't measured yet, but probably close to m15399's ranges with the 1/4" nozzle. If you decide to make one of these, after you drill the hole, take some sandpaper and sand the hole. It will help you get a more laminar flow.

Nice tip. Unless there's already a thread for miscellaneous homemade tips, I might write an article listing the various things you can do. It would likely go to WWc as well.

I have plenty more tips, but they are just common sense, but here goes:
Use teflon sealant tape on the pump and any threaded bits
You don't really need PVC primer, just sand the PVC and cement it
Don't put the O-ring all the way to the end of the pump shaft, as it could get stuck.

Primer is not needed for things like the PPP, but it should be used on anything that involves pressure.

Glad my article was of service ;)
