Is it better to bid right at the last minute or at any given time?

As Dark always says, get your maximum bid in early and by doing so tell everyone that it's yours. That way, you'll either get your item for a price you're willing to pay, or you won't get it, but the price by then will be too high for you anyway.

That having been said, I have succesfully sniped, but I wouldn't always recommend it.

What item have you got in mind?

EDIT: This CPS 3000 by any chance? If so, I hope you win it. Get your maximum bid in now.

that means if it gets lost or damaged in shipping you get reimbursed for the shipping and item price. and I ALWAYS snipe, bidding early just drives the price up.

I'd buy a CPS 3000 in an eyeshot! I already have a CPS 2100 and I don't have any backpack blasters. I hear it's better then the newer CPS 3200.

just the opposite. the 3000 has a soft backpack, I hear people have had problems with this. the 3200 has a hard backpack. the 3000 leaks, these were fixed with the 3200. but I'd still go for the 3000 over the 2100. now the scary thought is, before I knew better, I almost bought a 3000 over my 2500.

yeah if you run with a soft backback it could pop open or jiggle...but overall I think the 3000 would be better.

My dad buys all his eBay auctions (and he does eBay on a daily basis) with a special program to snipe it at the last second. I don't know what it's called, but there should be similar programs for Windows since he does it on Linux.

It would be weird if two computers sniped it with that program at the exact same time, I wonder what would happen?

your dad sounds like my dad, on without the program, he has timers that go off 5 minutes before the auction closes so he can manually snipe it. My dad gets a package every other day! Hey, that's funny. :Hey, that's funny.:

I think I'm going to bid now because if I choose to snipe then the price will just get too high -_-

Wait a minute....couldn't you just bid like 2000 dollars or something? Then nobody would ever get higher. Wait a minute....is the price raised if somebody bids higher but not above your maximum? Then that would make sense why nobody does that.
