My APH
I have been working on homemades for some time now this one is an APH. It was my first attempt at one. I made the pump according to Dooms pump article. It takes 60-70 pumps to get full pressure. The rest of the gun is made from ¾ and 2 pvc pipe. The nozzle you see firing is the ¼ nozzle. The gun gets the best range with the 3/8 nozzle. The end puddle was at 61, and the last drop fell at 65. The riot blast puts out approx. 60 oz. per second. I had fun making this one.

Welcome to SSC!
That's an impressive water gun. Good to see that you're getting some nice ranges out of it too. That seems to bust the myth that 2 inch chamber water guns are less powerful. It comes down to how much pressure you put into the chambers and a bit about how much water is in the chamber.
Mind if we use those images in our new APH article? I've made a page with a bunch of images of different APHs.
Do you have any other homemade water guns other than this APH? Since you said you've been working on them for a while, I'd be interesting in seeing what else you have to offer.
Wait for our website update in a month or two and then make a CPH.

Re: My APH
Thank you Ben.
I had never heard that myth about 2" pressure chamber guns being less powerful, but I think it all has to do with PC capacity and pressure as you said.
I do not mind if you use that picture for the APH article.
I have already made a CPH, and will be posting about it soon.
I have also made a water balloon launcher, and helped to make another APH, and CPH with a friend.

Welcome to the forums, Killer 7! You've built quite a refined and impressive water gun there.
Do you know which nozzle size was being used in the picture? It looks fairly large, yet well-laminated (clear and with little turbulence). Poor nozzles are probably the reason my homemade gets terrible range.
I'm looking forward to seeing your CPH.

Good job. 60 to 70 pumps is ridiculous--but who could argue with the results? I'm looking forward to seeing your CPH.

Re: My APH
The nozzle firing is the 1/4" nozzle.
I agree 60-70 pumps is way too many, a problem I intend to address in future water guns.
The reason I think it shoots so far is its large PC capacity I measured it once and it was around 120 fluid oz. of water.

Re: My APH
There are several things that help get good range. 1/4"-1/2" nozzles are the norm, at least if they're cleanly drilled. High pressure (from a narrow pump) helps, too. Large barrel tubing helps a bit. But all of those mean more output, which is why powerful water guns ought to have large pressure chambers - otherwise, the shots wouldn't last long.

Bit of a late question, but I was a bit confused by your description.
Is the pump of a 1/2" or 3/4" diameter?
Because you had said that:
Thanks for the the info and nice homemade.

But also mentioned that you followed Doom's pump guide, which is 1/2".The rest of the gun is made from ¾” and 2” pvc pipe.

Terrifying, but oddly refreshing.

I missed this post. Welcome to SSC!
60 or more pumps would take a while. The first 30 or so will be a lot easier than the second 30. I could imagine it could take longer than 30 seconds to pump it up depending on your strength.

Actually only the last 10-15 pumps are very hard. Most of them are not "easy", but not extremely difficult.
