CPS 2500 for sale
Hello all,
I was prepping my old CPS 2500 for sale on ebay when I decided to try it out. It's been about a year since I last tested it, and when I did, it worked fine - no leaks, pressure gauge worked well, etc. There is now a very slight leak when the gun is tipped nose down.
Would it be a good idea for me to try to fix this leak (and potentially do a substandard job), or should I list it on ebay in it's current condition, thinking that whoever buys it would have enough know-how of soakers to fix it in the best way possible? I don't feel right selling something that may be seriously broken, even if I disclose it in the auction. Is this a serious job, or is it relatively straight forward?
Thanks for your collectively expert insight!

It's possible that there isn't and never was any actual leak, but the water being collected from the nozzle is just dripping out. Are you sure it's actually leaking?
Now if it is, you may have to open it up and repair it. Most likely some epoxy on a cracked area, or some rubber bands on the pull valve (valve for holding pressure inside) should do the job. Pull valve springs in Super Soakers are notorious for wearing out very easily on CPS blasters.

Hopefully the pull spring is all it is. I'm fairly certain it's a leak, because after drying it off with a towel more water slowly drips out. I'm glad to hear that nothing is ruptured and that it could be a simple fix!C-A_99 wrote:It's possible that there isn't and never was any actual leak, but the water being collected from the nozzle is just dripping out. Personally, would anyone in this community prefer to have a broken supersoaker to fix themselves, or one fixed by a stranger?

It's probably just some PC dead space and the pull valve isn't completely shut when it isn't pressurized.
I would probably rather have someone else fix it as long as they know what they're doing, but if the broken one is cheaper, I would go with that.

By the way, before you sell it on ebay, see what folks on the forum will give you for it. You'll get a fair price, and you wont have to pay listinf fees and such. On the down side forum members might not be able to top sone of the crazier bids on ebay. and I havent seen a 2K on there in months, but it's worth a try here first, and you'll know the gun is in good hands.
As for the question, about a third of my collection were broken when I got them. Anyone willing to pay 1-2 hundred dollars for a squirt gun had better goddamn well know how to poke around inside it, and most of them pride themselves on just that. So I'd prefer a damaged/broken gun myself so long as the seller was clear about any issues.
Oh and as for "seriously broken" a leak isnt an issue because that's only a trigger valve thing, which is, I believe, the most common issue in any water gun ever (but hey, at least the 2000 didnt have a fuggin Max D valve -shudder-) If it builds pressure and only leaks when you pull the trigger, you still have a good pump and CPS chamber (if there was sometyhing wrong with that youd know by the explosion) and the trigger assembly is good since it can shoot. Repairs would be fairly cheep, but take a bit of expertise all the same to make sure that it is just a simple thing.
My prognosis, having a minor leak after firing will take, maybe, 20 bucks off your price. So you're looking at 60-70 dollars minimum plus shipping, with a cieling around 120 dollars. But like I said, you never know. If you want to list it on ebay now might be the time since there arent any other 200s. Hell, I havent even seen many 2500s!

Re: CPS 2000 MK2: guidance
I like the concept of listing it here, VAJMH - lets consider this an informal "auction" of sorts.
if anyone is interested in the gun, PM me with an offer, and i'll post the highest offer here (minus the name of the person) in this thread. The highest offer received by Sunday, March 21st at 6:00 PM EST will receive the gun.
I'm available to take pictures at request, as well, and I'm willing to be flexible with shipping options. I can only take Paypal.
I got the gun for my 12th birthday - June of 1997 - making it 12 years old. It is not in perfect condition as there are some scratches and slight fading of the red plastic reservoir. For some reason, my 12 year old self decided it would be a good idea to take the stickers off. Also, there is no strap. It's definitely NOT a collectible. This gun was made for use.
On the upside, it's been stored indoors its entire life, has only ONE owner , pumps and fires well (I fired it last night), and seems like an easy fix.
Pictures are attached.
And lastly, I reserve the right to end this at any time for any reason.
Thanks everyone! I'm glad to have the option of selling it to enthusiasts!
OFFER: $45.00

Re: CPS 2500 for sale
I'm not in a good position to buy soakers right now, but I'll try to go for it if you can offer it at a very low price. (say, $40, depending on the condition of the trigger valve but I should be able to fix it nonetheless) The 2500 is definately my favorite stock soaker I've used and I haven't been able to top it's superior handling and ergonomics from building homemades, but I'm in a fairly difficult situation on soaker buying at the moment.

I'll bid $40.01
I'm just kidding. I might buy this, but my highest price for now would be $45.
