SS50 uses a ballvalve similar to the MAX D series but is attached directly to a post in the middle of the case as opposed to a second rotating arm. This looks much more durable than previous MAX-D valves, so why not implement it in all their guns?

Interesting assessment. I thought that the XP 50... um I mean SS 50... used the old style XP firing valve/spring whatever. I will take it apart later and take a picture for everyone who doesn't have one.
