i only got a new way instead of using electrical tape and o-rings.....we can control the thickness of a rubber stopper by tightening a screw on a woden stick to make it fatter if necessary or losen the screw to make it thiner then just put some patroleum jelly and its good to go Image

That's pretty cool. Normally, one would have to just eyeball it, or else devise some diabolical method of measuring. Now, you get more than one chance at trial and error. :)
However, I wouldn't use petroleum jelly, as oils damage rubber. Try WD-40.

WD-400 likes to "eat" plastic and rubber, I suggest a water based lubericant...

WD-40 is also bad? Wow, thanks. :)

Silicone-based lubricants are also top-notch. They work well with everything, and since they don't degrade rubber, they're good enough in the long run.

Also, remember that with homemades, you can get extra seals (cheap enough), use any lube, and replace the seals if necessary.

Even if I am new, I am not new to the pressurized weapons of mass destruction...
