Today I got a Helix for my sister. I do not know why spinner always argues that it isn't good for close range. If you set it to the narrow setting, it's pretty close to shooting straight. Anyways, the wide setting is near useless unless you're shooting a big group of people. I like it since I can get the most range out of it, unlike my sister. I think it's underrated here.

Well I would never use it myself, I'd rather buy the Vaporizer because it's cheaper and has a lower chance of failure with no moving parts other than the pump. I haven't used one, so I guess we may have under rated it, I think many guns are under rated and some are extremely over rated. Keep an eye out for good XP guns on eBay, no one buys them because they are under rated. ;)

im one of those underraters...I ONLY guy CPS guns (except small baackups) and my one exception is the vaporizer which I Don't even really like that much. anyways, I guess doom's right, xps are underrated because they are only air pressure.

I would say XP's are great for everything exept for a Heavy weapons officer.

I don't see what the big deal with scouts. Why do they need a smaller weapon like a XP or MaxD. The fact is, a scout needs about the same amount of mobility as a Grunt. A smaller CPS like a 1500, a 1200, or a 2100 would do nicely.

I think the 1500 would be too large, I'd use the 2100, 1000 and 1200.

I didn't think that I argued that it isn't good for close range...I just personally haven't found it to be that good for even that.
I would prefer a straight stream which I would drag across the enemy repeatedly.
That's my preference, but it isn't everybody's, obviously. If the nozzles could be set until they were dead straight, I would likely feel more kindly towards it. B)

On the subject of scouting, I'd consider giving him a CPS 1200 (as already suggested) or XP 110.

Well the Helix isn't a great gun, I'm just saying that it seems better then the reviews about it on the internet. I think it's a perfect backup (what's with Hasbro and not making straps, are they on welfare or something?) and as a main I either use a CPS 2100 or Splashzooka. Sometimes my XP-310.

the reviews about it on the internet
I suppose they kind of balance each other out a bit. iSoaker's review is rather positive, whereas mine is rather negative. It probably has its own place in soakage.

I sorta go with both of your reviews, but mostly iSoaker's. I agree with iSoaker that what it loses in sheer power it makes up for dumping out water (which it does if you're strong enough to get the most out of one shot) and in the place where I fight, range doesn't really matter (unless your sniping from a deck, tree, etc).

if u want, you could always take the soaker apart and ditch the spinny thing. that could help.

not really, that does nothing bad. It just makes it so that your aim doesn't have to be perfect. It's probably the worst for actual soakertag, but it could be good whne trying to soak someone out cus it coverss a lot of ground quickley.Of cours, it doesn't compare to most CPS.

I have a Helix and the spinny thing is alright as long as you keep it on the thinnest stream.(By thin I mean samallest circle). It actually gets people totally drenched but it runs out of water INCREDIBLY fast and its range is absolutely atrocious. I wouldn't reccomend the gun. I guess some might like it but a CPS KILLs this gun in battle.... :P
