Bottle Shot

What did you guys think about the Bottle Shot?
I am thinking about getting it. However I want to know if it is worth spending money on.

Verdicts I've heard are that it's a bit rubbish. You should be able to find something better.

Yeah, it looks plasticky and underpowered to me. Maybe it's something you could take to a party with lots of water bottles lying around...but for most uses, a water gun with a regular reservoir is probably better.

Isoaker mentions two problems with it. First, the intake tube's too short, so it's hard to use all the water from larger bottles. Secondly, it gets very back-heavy if you use a two litre bottle.

And of course it's a piston pumper, not a pressurised gun. While a good piston pumper will perform decently, it'll likely be outdone by a good pressurised blaster of similar size.

I own the bottle shot and I think it's a decent gun, it's pretty durable and it does shoot 20ft.. It's pretty good for it's price I guess, but it could get smashed by different guns that are just several bucks more.

I don't think the Bottle Shot is a very good gun. For its size and price it is decent, however, compared to other water guns available, it is not a good choice. First of all, it is very weak, because it's a piston water gun, as shown by the 20-ft. range which is definitely less than average even for a gun of its size. And the "bottle" gimmick isn't too useful.

This review:

http://www.tomsguide.com/us/water-gun-t ... 13-10.html

got 39 feet from the bottle shot. With piston pumpers it very much depends on your own strength. Also, I find one way to get extra range is to brace the rear of the gun against my shoulder, allowing me to pump with more force. But it's a bit hard to aim like that.

cantab, those reviewers might also have been measuring to the last drop, and not to the center of the last puddle. Still, you're right about strength and performance.

Their range is test is last drop, but they also did 'optimal distance', figuring out how far it could get someone properly wet. All four guns tested fall between 20 and 30 feet on that measure.

Well most piston guns that I have used shoot 25-30 feet
I measure to the last drop and minus 2-3 feet
The water warriors Steady Stream is a good piston gun I just got for 8$ brand new
Shoots 30 feet. pretty easy to pump and about 4 pounds when full

Huh. I actually like the bottle shot. I'm able to squeeze 30 feet from it, and it can have good capacity (I used a three liter bottle once. It wasn't that heavy). When I initially bought it, I was thinking "Clip feed!" Being able to reload in a few twists of the bottle is a major advantage over reloading by filling. My only qualm is that it could be a little smaller ... for assassins (just put the clip in, and there's your gun).

What's actually scary about the bottle shot is that you can equip a unit of about five people with it for the same price as one good pressurized blaster. Five versus one ... One guy can snipe, but he will be overwhelmed by sheer numbers (at least, in terms of soakage).
Why isn't there a water gun armored vehicle yet?

Arsenal: Modded Supercannon, Backpack-modified Piston Gun, WBL, Storm 300 Pistol, and a whole slew of defunct soakers in the garage.

Might be true, but who would agree to a five on one fight?

I know some people. My church is one of those military-oriented ones, and they try pretty crazy stuff. They encouraged me to make my Supercannon II. My church's military chaplain would volunteer, he'd like to test himself.

But back to the bottle shot. I was just looking at it today, and I was thinking about possible mods. Widening the nozzle would do something, although I'm not too sure what. Would it increase or decrease range? Any other ideas?

^^ That "5 on 1 fight" sounds more like a "5 on 1 slaughter". Anyone reasonably armed can give even that many people at least a tough time if all they have are low-range piston guns. If its 1HK, the group of 5 could form a circle and charge in (and lose about 3 of their guys), but in soakfests, the juggernaut could easily get a good soaking on all 5 before getting really soaked himself.

Theres really not much point to the bottle shot IMO. While switching bottles, you can't attack (you have 1 or 2 shots in the firing chamber actually) and water bottles can refill standard guns just as quickly without losing any water from having to switch bottles.
