SuperCannon 2 based water gun

Post by mysterio » Sat Jul 17, 2010 7:15 pm

I might sound crazy, but i had the craziest idea last night. if someone used http://forums.sscentral.org/t6183/ as a base design, with the WBL as an extra reservoir, and the Supercannon 2's piston system instead of four PC's, with a bike pump and water pump, would it be effective
(picture below)

i know its really rough

EDIT: heres the link to my smaller one https://docs.google.com/drawings/edit?i ... y=CIjProkE

It would work in principle, but would be a little heavy. To make it worth the bulk, and to make it more balanced, you could make the front reservoir a bit larger

The ergonomics on the original design aren't too good, but it would look very intimidating. You could add a strap to make it easier to carry.
If you "scrunched it up" by twisting the reservoirs backwards (ie having the two pumps and the pressure chamber close to you and the reservoirs further away) it would be much smaller, but not very comfortable to hold (too much of the weight would be on the right of the gun).
This could be solved by mounting a strap further away from you.

It all depends on what sort of size you want it to be. Bigger than a CPS 2000? Between CPS 2000 and Water Warriors Argon? The size of a WW Argon? Give me roughly what size you're aiming for.

yea, CPS 2000 size sounds good. and a strap plus maybe making the reservoirs ziptied to the pvc like in my other design would help scrunch it up a bit.

EDIT: how bout my smaller design?

Yeah I like that design.
If I had access to cheap PVC I'd copy it.
You see the bike pump is behind the front check valve?
You'll need to move that forward so the handle sticks out past the check valve
Apart from that it's a great design

You could mount it on something if it's too heavy alone.

@SEAL are you talking about the big one or the smaller one?

I think you should build the smaller one.
The water pump is a bit big (basically the wider the pump, the harder it is to pump)
The biggest pump diameter you'll want to go with would be 1/2" (or 3/4" if you fancy a challenge)

but i want to have an entirely PVC pump, w/ 2" pvc as the outside. basically a waterzooka, cut down to about 8-10 inches, as a pump. it might be harder, but it'll be effective

You'll have a lot of trouble pumping it when you get to higher pressures.
At first you'll barely be able to pump it, and by the time PC is fully expanded in width (LRT expands in width then length) you'll have to jump on the pump to do anything.
So it won't be effective.
If you have 3/4" PVC as the outside, and 1/2" PVC on the inside as the pump rod, it'll be fine to pump for a long time (meaning you'll be able to fill the PC more than once) and you can make it slightly longer to increase the volume.

lol im getting these threads mixed up!
The same problem applies unless you "prop" the air valve open with something while you pump water. This will mean more air pumping, but at least you'll be able to pump the water into the piston chamber.
