CPS 3000 issue

Post by 00iceman » Thu Apr 29, 2010 6:15 pm

Hello -

New to the forums, glad to be here. After searching through all the repair posts, I didn't find anything that quite addressed my particular issue.

Got out my 3000 the other day to test it out after it had been in storage for a year or two. Straight to the point, the pump does not draw water, nor does it charge the pressure in the gun. I opened it up and after inspecting everything, I did not notice any breaks, cracks, or tears in any of the parts. The pumping rod (not sure of the correct term) seems to be creating sufficient seal in the pumping tube. However, when I pulled out the rod and either blew or sucked on the tube with my mouth, I could not do either. It's almost as if the valves are frozen shut, not allowing water intake or pressurization. Any ideas for repair?

Thanks for your time!

Welcome to Super Soaker Central.

There's probably a problem with the check valves, but I don't know how to fix it. It's likely that it's not even possible to fix without major repairs/modifications.

If you have a water gun that you con't care about, you could try to replace the entire pump system in the 3000 with another soaker's

Ok, it sounds like what you're saying is that the one way valve that allows water in from the backpack is frozen up. Well, try forcing it. Put a hose with a sprayer on it against the intake and shoot water in while you draw the pump out. You'll get wet, but the added pressure might be enough to jolt whatever's stuck and free things up.
