Permanently attach a QFD
I'm looking to purchase a Splashzooka, one of the QFD dependent weapons, and that made me wonder why Larami didnt just make them attached. (Profit, I know. Bastards) But what they didnt do I'm sure we can. So for guns that are QFD dependent and where it wouldnt really messup the appearance too much, what do you guys think of an attached qfd? I'm considering something like adding a one way valve or something to the normal QFD assembly and then epoxying it in.

Re: Permanently attach a QFD
I was under the impression that the QFD is only attached to the hose, so you can take the water gun elsewhere and be able to shoot it. Perhaps I'm wrong, though, as I've never actually handled one.
If you want a water gun permanently connected to the hose, a custom device or one of those (expensive) Water Warriors gun attachments may work well.

Re: Permanently attach a QFD
The QFD fits on the end of the hose. It then works to block the flow unless a compatible gun is inserted. The device HAS to be on the hose to do this. Sure, you could modify a quick-filling gun to shove the filler in a normal hose - but then when the gun's not there water will go everywhere.
What would, however, be worth thinking about is modding the gun to connect to standard hose fittings. In Britain the 'Hozelock' type are common - they are quick connect/release, and can have valves to stop flow when disconnected. Most hoses use these and they're readily available.

Re: Permanently attach a QFD
cantab's suggestion to allow the gun to connect to more common quick-connect/release fittings is good. I've considered that before but never got around to doing it. It wouldn't be a hard modification.
Here's a photo of the type of fittings:
Fittings of this variety are available under various names. They should be available in any good hardware or home improvement store in the gardening section.

Re: Permanently attach a QFD
I was thinking more like an indwelling quick fill device, like the QFCaps that appear on some newer super soakers. Just hook it to the hose and turn the hose on with the hose's control. This way the QFD wouldnt be able to get lost .This should have been done at least to the Splashzooka as it requires a QFD.

In my experience, the newer 'quick fill' caps aren't that great. The time saving compared to screwing is a mere couple of seconds, and half the time one gets wet trying to use them.

Re: Permanently attach a QFD
Quick fill caps are better than normal caps, but not for the use they were made for. Quick fill caps simply tend to be much larger than normal caps - when unscrewed the opening allows for more water and faster.
