Tiger Shark

Post by Major McMan » Wed Jul 16, 2008 8:43 pm

I recently took my Tiger Shark to a pool, and now after I release the trigger it continues to shoot! Also, the gun shoots when I pump. Does anyone have a repair for a problem like
this?

Thanks!

P.S. Glad to be a part of SS Central!

Welcome aboard, Major McMan!

This definitely sounds like a weakened return spring.

A fast, though somewhat temporary, solution to this is to put rubber bands on. I guess I'm lucky that my TS's return spring hasn't started to weaken yet but it happens a lot on WW's.

If any valve ever leaks during battle or whenever you need to get it to stop leaking, pull the trigger back, then slip your finger off to the side so it shuts itself.

I'm guessing you dunked the gun in the water? If so, that's a good way to get internals rusted and weakened. While it's a quick way to fill guns, it's not generally a good idea to completely submerge them, even in clean water.

How did the repair go? Were you successful?

Any success? This is a common problem, so fixing it shouldn't be too difficult. Good luck if you haven't started yet.

I have encountered a major problem: rounded screws. does anyone know how to get these screws out?

What do you mean by "rounded screws"? Do you mean screws with a round head? Those are the norm so I bet not.

If you mean stripped screws, do as this guide recommends and drill through the screw. This will eliminate the screw so it's best to do as a last resort.

You don't have to drill thru the screw! I saw these things on TV before and then when I was in a Walgreens I saw them on the shelf by the register. I forget what they're called but they are special bits that you put in your drill to pull the screw out. I think they were about $12 and there's 6-in-3 bits (3 bits with a different tool on each side) It comes with instructions on how to use them and they come in a little storage case.

then you can take the screw to the hardware store and buy new ones that match

I think you're talking about screw extractors. I don't have any experience with them but they should work. They're worth researching. Drilling the head of the screw works good too but telling when to stop drilling can be difficult.

Yeah, I've seen ads for drill bit and screwdrivers that can unscrew screws with stripped heads. I've always considered those to be slightly overrated (since they're being advertised), but maybe they might work. It's like raking a lock instead of picking it - it'll work sometimes but not always. :p
