Re: Mods for the SS 50?
Nope, no real mods for the SS50. Theres the nozzle drill and the reservoir expansion (good luck with that one) and thats it. You can also plug up the pressure relief valve (located in the pump, between the o-ring seal) but it probably won't help much, and may cause damage to the gun with over-pumping. (I only plug the PRV if its having problems and not sealing)

Re: Mods for the SS 50?
Any variety of SS 50 is undoubtedly too limited to be improved much by modification. My suggestion is to keep it as is aside from potentially useful external modifications like the addition of a strap.

Re: Mods for the SS 50?
How would you perform a nozzle drill on one of these bad boys?
Thanks

I don't see a need to deviate from the plain old nozzle drill, so it shouldn't be too difficult.

Re: Mods for the SS 50?
Don't go overboard on the drilling either. I've regretted drilling some guns at all since they simply aren't designed for the larger nozzles. I drilled my SC 400's nozzle too large (though it was originally to remove the spring inside, which was getting messed up and affecting the shot) causing it to use up the reservoir's water very quickly, as well as lacking range. However, I'm lucky to have the stream lamination as good as it is; drilling SC nozzles is difficult and not recommended. As for my Max-D 5000, the air that constantly gets into the shot (causing it to shoot very loudly, I'm not even sure how air gets in) gets worse with a larger nozzle.
With that said, I've drilled the Oozinator, a Max-D 6000 nozzle, the Flash Flood's main nozzle, and the 2700's 2x nozzle and all of those turned out fairly well.
So... Drill it a bit. Scratch out the plastic but don't go too far. Perhaps 150% is the highest you should go in most cases, but I haven't really handled the new SS50 before.

Yeah, that's pretty good advice. I drilled out the nozzle of my XP 270 since the old one was already turbulent stream for some reason. When you're looking at the drill bits and the original aperture, I figured most of them were too small and went with 1/4", 3/8", or whatever. Big mistake.

I'm guessing a badly underpowered stream.
I work on Windows. My toolbox is Linux.

Might be shot time of a fraction of a second, that might be worthwhile.

Re: Mods for the SS 50?
Yeah, the result was terrible. Pretty much a 5 meter shotgun blast, and it wasn't a very laminar stream, either. Shot time was actually reasonable, as was the output (if you're fighting in a soakfest).

Re: Mods for the SS 50?
I gave my Max-D Secret Strike a big blast nozzle, by prizing out the fan. Results were not awful, but while it had good soakage it definitely lacked power and thus range, being vastly inferior to the AB's blast.
Of course, that gun has three other nozzles.
