For those of you who made a backpack, how did you get past the cap for those CPS guns? Did you just drill right through the entire thing?

Also, is it possible to buy a cap similar to the ones on the CPS guns?

Err, you can take the cap off by hand, its barely held in.

I know, but what I meant to say is how did you make it so that the tank retains its normal pressure, yet still draw water from the backpack to the tank?

Sorry for the confusion.

edit: I want to be able to fill the backpack and the normal resevoir at the same time. To keep the normal pressure, can I just add a pinhole onto the backpack resevoir and make a hole in the gun's pressure cap?

I made a backpack for my 1200 about a year ago and it was very simple. The way I made mine was I had some tubing duct taped into where the cap goes on. The tubing lead to the actual backpack tank which held the water. The tank then was strapped onto my back with some cheap twine.

Now when you pump up your gun and put water into the pressure chamber gravity lets water from the backpack tank flow into the reservoir. In other words, as you put water in to the pressure tank, the backpack refills your reservoir.

You don't even need a cap to shoot some Super Soakers. Any CPS gun doesn't need a cap. It may leak water all over the place, but it works without a cap.

Yes you would need to put a pinhole but only if your backpack is a actual tank. If the "tank" was something that gets smaller as it runs out of water such as a trash bag (etc) then you would not need a pinhole.

I see, thanks for the help. Now I'm off to make myself a backpack for my 21k.

I have an old XP310 but it's got a shattered reservoir, d'you think I could backpack-mod it?
(P.S. it also has my XP310 FanSpray mod, so it needs more water than the single shot I can get now because of the wrecked tank)

My guess is that you replace the resevoir with something else, like a soda bottle(although I doubt a soda bottle would be good), and drill a hole in it. Like in the attached diagram. Please forgive my bad art skills.

Aw, XPBackfire-esque!

My xp 270 cracked around the reservoir cap, and I thought it could'nt be fixed,
so I threw it out. :(

But that was when I was like,7 or 8,so I didn't even know what a backpack
mod was.

I'll try the soda-pop replacement reservoir, but you don't need a backpack if you do that...

Oh yeah, I'm halfway through XPSing my 310, but I ran outta balloons... I'll let you know how my fan-spray with XPS and a 2l reservoir on an XP310 works out... ;)
