CPS 1500 nozzle modification

Post by 11ilee » Mon Sep 01, 2008 12:34 am

Is there a possible way to add a 20X nozzle on a CPS 1500 easily? Also, how can I improve the range of the CPS 1500?

Thanks,
Isaac

You could drill through an existing nozzle to make it larger, but the flow will be restricted from the tubing, so you won't really see a range increase. You'll need to perform a K-mod to do that.

I really don't want to do a K-mod, so I guess I can't increase the range on my supersoaker.

But how big do I have to drill the nozzle to make a 20X one?
How do you drill a nozzle?
Also, will the range significantly decrease on the 20X nozzle?
Oh, by the way, should I drill the 5X or 10X nozzle?

Thanks,
Isaac

You can remove the nozzle selector completely; can't remember exactly how but I'm sure I saw something about it, maybe on this forum. You're then left with a roughly 20x orifice. It leaves the firing valve somewhat exposed though.

However, in general, guns have the nozzles they can support. I suspect the stock CPS 1500 won't be able to properly power a 20x. Of course k-modded is another matter.

I wouldn't suggest drilling either existing nozzle; both are useful.

You could examine the selector and see if you can add a third setting; the 1500's selector seems a touch unusual, I'm not sure how it works.

You could try removing the existing nozzle and building the laminator in the homemades section, then experiment with endcap sizes to find maximum range.

So,I guess I can't add the 20X nozzle but if I add a barrel to the end of the nozzle, would it significantly increase range. If so, what kind of barrel should I use?

Thanks,
Isaac

A plain barrel isn't going to do anything. What you need is a laminating device. The 1500 has one already but it might not be big enough for 20x output, and it might be possible to make a better one.

Here's the forum thread on the Laminator: http://forums.sscentral.org/t5232/

It then takes threaded PVC endcap nozzles - just experiment with hole sizes. You can do fancy stuff if you like too, like multi-way blasts.

You can also use it with no nozzle for a big blast, but not all guns can power such. The 1500 quite possibly can.

However, you can fiddle with the nozzle all you like, but range increases will be small. To get significant range increases, you should do a k-mod (or an integration or PC replacement, but k-mod is simpler), and then make a nozzle to best use the new higher power.
