Tragic Accident and New Range Record

Post by Drenchenator » Sun Apr 01, 2007 1:53 pm

The Good News: Ben has just completed SuperCannon III with RangeDoubler(tm) technology. This new innovation use a specially designed nozzle with large flow valves to substantially increase range. SuperCannon III shot 102 feet easily at 25 PSI.

The Bad News: On the second shot, Ben primed the gun to 350 PSI using our brand new scuba tank compressor. Of course, the gun exploded, sending PVC shrapnel everywhere, including straight into Ben. Ben, in his dying moments, tried to whisper to me the secrets to his next technology, but died after saying ironically "Need to more power; too little pressure..."

The funeral is scheduled for April 7. All of Ben's water guns are for sale now, including his SuperCannon IV prototype. I plan to make a killing. Contact me for details.

Edit: April Fools!

Can you list his guns? How much are they being sold for?

Happy April Fools' Day.

I reported the tragedy to hasbro and they're going to add the super cannon III in the aquashock line this summer to honor ben's work.

My previous post was fake. Ben had the idea for this joke and wanted me to post it because it would just be stupid for him to post that he was dead. Don't panic; this really was not my idea.

Happy April Fools Day.

Was this also meant to be a lesson for us not to pump beyond the pressure limit?

Things that caused me to raise an eyebrow:

1: The date.
2: The range - 102 feet at 25 psi? Seriously...
3: The failure pressure - PVC normally fails at way past twice it's rating.

Quite funny though.

BTW I might just have believed 100 feet range at a much higher pressure than that. It's not totally impossible.

Yeah, we had been talking about April Fools for about 17 hours on the bus.

The fact that it was Drenchenator caught me off guard.

The technical lingo, with parts that didn't have anything to do with water cannons, was also suspicious.

And then I accidentally spied the edit at the bottom...oh well.

A good amount of surface area and a metal system could have justified the ranges and pressures. And remember that PVC is safe far beyond its rating, although I wouldn't take the chance. But that did explain the PVC split.

Great April Fools prank, though! However, I think you should've saved the edit for today...and backed up questions with more "information."

None of the pranks threw me this year. I was prepared for weird news since the school paper made every article in their April issue a joke.

That's what our school newspaper did last year. And for once, they pulled something off quite well.

They might've done that this year too, but I wasn't there to get a copy.

The all-fake paper was actually done really well - the articles were written with the same quality of the real ones, though the titles gave it away [Bush Receives Genius Award, Pool on Fourth Floor No Longer a Myth, School Uniforms to be Introduced, etc]. However, more people ended up pissed off than amused, as the article on "New Prom Restrictions" fooled hundreds into getting angry at the administration.

I wish our paper had done it like that. Instead, it just talked about April Fools day and talked about pranks you could do.

The thing about our schools is that there have to be three pools on the roof because of the two courtyards in the middle.
