Storm water gun information

Post by SSCBen » Mon Nov 21, 2005 8:24 pm

DA's recent Speed Loader thread has given me the idea to list all known Storm brand water guns and what they were like. He has documented pretty much all we know about the Speed Loaders. This Storm water gun information would be good reference given that we don't know too much about lots of these guns.

Here's what Storm water guns I know about based upon a quick Google search and a check of our website:

- Storm 300
- Storm 500
- Storm 600
- Storm 650
- Storm 750 (said to be the best pistol)
- Storm 800
- Storm 2500
- Storm 2100
- Storm Monsoon Force 4
- Storm Thunder Force 6

I am sure that there are many more Storm water guns that I missed. I might email Jakks-Pacific who owns Storm for a full list of water guns, but I am not sure if they will answer my email given the usual responses from Hasbro.

The Storm 750 is a outstanding gun, but I wouldn't call it a pistol. There is also the Storm force 3, force 5, and the Storm 1200.

I had a Storm 600 a while back. As I remember, it was just a PR with a 1-1.5x stream.
One of my freinds had one that was slightly bigger, but basically the same design. It may have been the 700 or 750.

I have a 810E Storm 760 Extreme and an 800 They are great guns. You missed the E seiries, As far as I know there was a 810E, 550E and a 650E. There was also an Angel series featured on Storms old website.

EDIT: I'll get some pictures of them sometime, and maybe some stats etc.

I know it's an old topic. But, anyway. Here are some pictures of an old (Trendmasters) Storm 500 as opposed to the new one by Jakks Pacific. I'll get some more shots of the 810E, 760Extreme, 800 and the new 500 later. For now:

You think those are large enough...

Are the speedloaders under the same brand name as storm?

No, Speedloaders are completely different. Visit Hydrowar for more information on the Speedloaders. M4 even has a email from the guy who invented the Speedloader!

I think all SpeedLoaders were CPS-based, whereas Storm focused mainly on air-pressure guns.

Super Soaker Central is quite a small and slow moving forum, and consequently, this thread is over four years old. The date a post was made can be found just above the username, keep an eye out for it.

Pictures didn't turn out great, but here's the Typhoon Force 2 that I recently acquired from Goodwill for under two bucks. It worked for a little while, then the fill-cap separated from its threaded ring.

Now that it's broken I'm not so sure, but I think the cap may contain the overpressure relief valve for the whole system. There is definitely some kind of spring-loaded air valve in it. Edit: after a bit more investigation, it may be just a checkvalve to prevent a vacuum from forming in the tank. But since this is a pressurized tank I'm unsure why that would even be useful, so there does remain the possibility that this "check valve" will release at some pressure level. I have solvent welded the cap back together, but I think I should wait a few days before stressing the bond to test whether it releases under enough pressure.

I have more Storm blasters in my collection, here's a small one I don't know the exact designation of

I have a few more somewhere; not sure if I even took pictures before storing them away.

that typhoon force 2 looks almost the same as the storm 600 just different colors

http://www.sscentral.org/gallery/internals/storm.html

and you can see in the internal shot the pressure relief valve in the middle where it goes to a small hole in the top of the casing.

The unidentified one is a storm 750. Great gun, really reliable and no recorded episodes of one breaking.

Speaking of the typhoon force two, I recently took apart its older brother, the cyclone force three. (And I have two of the number four guns, need to dig those out.)
I reject your reality and substitute my own.
Quack damn you.

It's quite similar to a 600, even internally, but the TF2 is nearly twice the size.

To some extent, all models in the whole line look alike.
