Beast find in an old toystore

Post by JuchTurtles » Sun Nov 15, 2009 7:46 pm

In the downtown part of my town, there's this old toystore. I went in to check if they had any SSs.

Well, I found an SC Power Pak, which is a pistol with a backpack with a QFD. And it was NIB!!!

After testing, it works great, and later I'll post the box and gun.

It was a great addition to my armoury

Nice find. I have a PowerPak, but no QFD. I was able to fire it once by jamming the fill in an outside tap, but got very wet doing so.
I work on Windows. My toolbox is Linux.

Ya, sadly if you don't have a QFD it doesn't work really. The whole thing is based on it because it's all PC.

Juch - Damn, thats the kind of find any soaker enthusiast dreams about, congrats!

Cantab - I have some spare QFDs if you want to buy one sometime PM me, I'll give a fair price.

Course the reason I'd sell them is because I dont believe in QFD dependent guns at all. I'm trying to ditch my splashzookas as well for that reason. I think the Devastator is a much better version of the SC Powerpak.

Thanks, VAJMH!

Ya, I don't really like QFD-depended guns either because if you lose the QFD, you're at a lost. Or if the QFD breaks for that matter as well.

Did I mention that I got the gun for 20 bucks! Some on Ebay cost over 100!

It seems that the solutions to lack of QFD's are still not widely known.

Me and my friend have had success just by attaching the nozzle to the hose so a homemade QFD probably isn't even necessary.

I think the Super Charger issue for me boils down to, well, I guess it's odd to say this, but almost a psychological fulfillment issue. When I test fired my splashzookas, in addition to getting a good bit of spray off the QFD connection, I just didnt feel it. Sure the water shot out, but what did I have to do with that event?

When you actually pump the gun to full power and then squeeze the trigger, there's a feeling of achievement there, of really being kind of in synch with these magnificent machines. Just hooking them to a hose doesnt have the same appeal to me.

I've seen the QFD fix, but being as I only needed one to test my splashzookas and now have about four, yeah, at least 2 of those things are getting sold.

I think now that the original (and good working) QFDs are rare, connecting to hose or making your QFD is the best solution, but even still I personally think its easier just to have the ones from SS.

I'm sure homemade and others still are good, but I personally like the SS-made ones.

I'm aware of the VHS, but I live in the UK - it isn't easy for me to get those PVC parts.

I have a hosepipe and some bits around, so I might be able to make something work. Just haven't got round to it, and it's winter now anyway.
