Artic shock - repair
Hey There,
Wondering if you could help me?
I have a Artic Shock pistol. Recently, it stopped working. I believe the valve is stuck open. I need to open it up and take a look at least. I removed all the screws but it will not open up at the pumping rod. Did anyone every open one of these before and see this issue? Also, if you fixed it without opening it then do let me know.
Thanks,
Rich

Re: Artic shock - repair
Hey Again,
Let me give you a background of the problem. I was having this fight against my son and I was doing a rapid firing of the gun and now the trigger won't reengage to enable to pulled again. It just flaps back and forth. When I add water and pump the water inside starts to shoot out. I believe the valve is stuck in the open position. I hope this helps so someone could give me some insight what to do. But I do advice to open the darn thing up. I think the part that does not open is the part where they glued it. Can someone confirm it it is glued or not and also what is the best way to get it open.
Thanks for your help,
Rich

Welcome to SSC.
This is the most common problem with water guns and consequently is listed first on the repairs page: http://www.sscentral.org/repairs/nozzle_leaking.html
As for opening the blaster, there are some tips on this page: http://www.sscentral.org/repairs/opening.html
I don't have an Arctic Blast in front of me to verify how to open one, but glued pieces generally are carefully cut off as to not cut anything else off or pried off with a screwdriver.

Is the blaster the Arctic SHOCK or the Arctic BLAST. They're two different guns. The Arctic Blast has a big half-inch nozzle above the regular one.
For the Arctic Blast, extend the pump fully. You should then see two small screws on the FRONT of the black plastic ring around the pump shaft. Unscrew them.

I work on Windows. My toolbox is Linux.

He means the Arctic Shock; he never mentions the AB.

Hey There,
Yes, It is a Artic shock. I believe 2004 was the year that it was made.
Here is the link to the intenals.

For the life of me, I am still having problems taking off the pump cap. I tried to pry the cap off but it is a pain in the rear. I believe it is glued or on pretty tightly but most likely glued. I may resort to cutting just below the cap on the housing side that comes off.
Thanks,
Rich

Re: Artic shock - repair
What are you doing with it? modding it? You can try using a flathead screwdriver to pry off the cap. I actually cut one on an XP 270 to get it off (to mod, it now doesn't have it).
The name's Juch, just Juch.

If all else fails, saw. You can make your own pump cap, don't worry about it. At least you can get the soaker open. If it's glued, there's not much a flathead screwdriver can do.
