The first one is the good fake. Aqua-NeXuS has more info about it.

The first one is the good fake
Does this mean it's good for a fake? Or is it still XPBackfire-esque?

How can you tell that the first one is a fake? I've never seen a CPS 1000 in real life, so I'm no expert, but it looks authentic to me. Yeah, I see the sticker that says CPS 2000 on it, but I thought that maybe someone just took a sticker from a 2000 and put it on a 1000. It looks pretty authentic, along with the Super Soaker logo to the left of it. Plus, it has a strap. On the rampant phony 1500's, there is no strap and I don't think there's an authentic logo. I'm not saying that I believe for sure that it's real, I was just curious about how you can tell it's fake.

My question now is, even if it is a fake, does it work like a real 1000 or is it just a piston-action with a phony trigger like so many of the other knock-offs out there? I'm interested because I was thinking about bidding on this soaker.

Any fake CPS's never use the same technology for firing. Often they use air pressure (like an XP soaker). I have no idea why someone would switch stickers anyway.

Soakologist/cloud/Its_The_Sneak is as far as I know trying to get the CPS 1000-type gun, as far as I have heard it is legitimate and a true CPS, but I have never used one. Ask him in a couple of weeks' time...

The Super Shooter (yes, that is what it says) CPS 2000 is a real CPS gun. It's nearly an exact copy of the CPS 1000. The Aqua-NeXuS said that it performs exactly the same. It's a real CPS gun. You can generally tell if something is real by the trigger, if it looks normal then it likely is real. Always post when you are considering buying an unknown gun. ;)
