Greetings,

I am looking for a small accurate water pistol to discourage my cats from scratching furniture etc. It needs to be small enough for the bedside table. I read with interest the review of the Storm 300 but I cannot find it for sale anywhere on the web. If you have any recommendations for a model and where I can buy it I would much obliged. Many thanks.

Hi Redwoods, welcome to SSCentral.

Most small Storms would be good, if you can't find the 300 maybe try the 500, which can still be found in shops. Which country are you from? If you're in the UK, try Woolworths.

I haven't seen any storms in stores lately, but you could try the Super Soaker Liquidator, from what I hear it's really good. I've used a lot of pistol sized waterguns, but sadly they are all no longer being produced.

Hello Redwoods!

Some have also said the new for 2005 Super Soaker Triple Shot is a strong pistol. Though I'll admit, I'm not too sure how many have tested it yet.

Check your local store and take what's best in stock. If you're completely set on a Storm pistol, you may want to try eBay.

As for getting cats off furniture, my local Wal*Mart carries small empty squirt bottles meant for cleaning chemicals that would be perfect for the job. You may want to check if a similar bottle is available in your local area. B)

You might also want to try an XP-20.K-Mart should have them.

Thanks very much everyone. The XP-20 looks interesting, though probably too big. The Storm 300 looks perfect, but is it for sale online in the US anywhere? I live in rural, rural northern California where (fortunately) there are no WalMarts.

By the way thanks Doom for the tip regarding the water sprayer. That's what I've been using until now, but the cats have gotten to where it is no longer a deterrent - actually I think they find it entertaining! Time for something with a bit more authority. Gotta love those felines...

Actually even though the XP-20 is bigger than a Storm 300/500 it is only a little bigger. The only main difference would be the size of the stream.

welcome, Redwoods.
you shouldn't double post like that.
and about the gun suggestions, the Storm one would probably work. But have you tried adding a little bit of vinegar or pepper to the water? that makes for a pretty good deterrent. mind you, the vinegar would probably make your house and cats smell 'pickled'.

I recently got a XP 215 which is only about 5 -6 inches at the most, and has about a 20-25 foot range (this is no lie). I was shocked by the range of such a small thing. You can get these with a liquidator at kmart, walmart, target wherever. I hope this might be what you ar looking for.

The Max-D 2000 is one of my favorite water guns ever, and it's very cheap. I got one at a dollar store for 5$ USD.

Also, the Vaporizer should have more power behind it than a pistol, and it is also 5$ USD.

^This was made by Superstormer. What, do you think it got here on its own?

You can get XP 20s? I thought they stopped making them ages ago. Also the XP 20 only has a 1x nozzle so what's the nozzle size difference?

Redwoods, I would suggest an XP 240, mine goes as far as my CPS 1000, or a Max-D 2000 for a small pistol.

Yes,you can get XP-20s.Last year they had twin pack soaker tag remakes in K-Mart with a grey reservoir and yellow body.As for the nozzle difference I would think that the XP-20 had a smaller stream than the Storm 500.

I dunno, if you look down the orange outer nozzle on the 500s, the nozzle is really small.
