I never painted a soaker, so Im in the dark about it. From what I know, I will use Fusion paint, which will bond with plastic to a molecular level. But the actual painting progress will still require some effort. Obviously I will have to cover up the nozzles and pressure gauge to prevent them to be sprayed over. But what about the pump? I would not want to render it imovable when spraying it.

You should take apart the gun and paint only the parts you want painted, both sides of the case, the reservoir and the PC most of the time. It's the simplest thing to do, many people have recomended it. If you don't want to do that you can use masking tape to cover up the spots you don't want to paint.
