Welcome to SSCentral Pieter!

^ Our reviews for a little more information on the background of each water gun. Toothpicmatt's page also has a lot more information on the background of the CPS 2000 and CPS 2500.

The CPS 2500 and CPS 2000 are extremely similar water guns. The CPS 2500 supposedly replaced the CPS 2000, which makes sense even though some would say that they only weakened the CPS 2000 and added a nozzle selector.

The CPS 2500 essentially has a nozzle selector, smaller and thinner PC, and different colors. There are several other internal differences that I won't get into (or know for that matter).

I wouldn't try to get a CPS 2000 unless you're looking for an overpriced water gun. Because of it's reputation as the "most powerful water gun," you'll have to pay a load to get it. They both are very good water guns, and you should be the one to decide which one to get.

Personally, I would get the CPS 2500 because of the nozzle selector and generally cheaper price. B)

Welcome to the forums! If I were you I would also go for the 2500 since if you are going to use it in a battle it will be much more useful as you can control the water supply more with different nozzle settings. A 2000 only has one nozzle and barely 1 second of shot time. It may be more powerful, but its not as useful on the field. Its a lot more expensive as well now. But hey that's my choice, its your decision.

And modding: can I do the same with a CPS 2000 as with a 2500?

You basically can. Both have cylindrical CPS bladders and can be colossus modded and CVFed. A nozzle mod would be easier on the 2500 as you can just change the existing nozzles, whereas on the 2000 you would have to add nozzles made of PVC (I don't think it's that hard though, you'd have to ask Duxburian and NiborDude, they know more about this).

If you had a 2000 you probably wouldn't want to mod it as it is likely to reduce the resale value - and you would be paying enough for it as it is. I think your best bet would be with a 2500.
Hey, images in sigs work again! Woo!

Good! I just bought a CPS 2500 for 40 Euros from Ebay! BTW, is it possible to get as much power with a collosus modded CPS 2500 as I can get from a stock CPS 2000?

uhm....yea, in theory its possible to get much more power than a 2000 with a collosused 2500...2000's are overrated.

Yes it is possible. The real question is if it would be worth the work. Collosusing is hard work, and you really don't need CPS 2500 power either. Get a few layers on, but don't go overboard. B)

Welcome to the forums! For best capabilities on the field, the CPS 2500 is the way to go. I would also not recommending modding it unless you have backup money incase you screw up, its already a really tight gun. Good luck in your endeavors!

Just for some ebay math fun . CPS 2000($140) v.s CPS 2500($75) is mainly just a 7 feet distance difference. So technical one pays $9.29 for every foot of distance.

Just imagine if all soakers would be rated that way. Max-D 6000 ($9.99) v.s the Helix with a 3-5 feet distance difference. If you would win the Helix, the ebay seller would have to pay you $46.43 as an addition to the Helix.

heya,
the CPS-2000 and CPS-2500 are both great guns. they may not be the most versital because they are both rather large but they are both very powerful and have great range. if you can get a hold of either I would recommend it.... I really have no clue what they go for anymore, but from what it sounds like its a lot of $$$.

I don't know if I could say that either gun is worth $75, but if thats what you want then go for it.

as for modding.... well if your paying 75 bucks for the gun im not sure thats something I would do.... the collosus mod will give you extra power. on the 2000 im not really sure how it would behave... but on the 2500 I'm pretty sure it would behave like my CPS-2250 mod the 5x and 10x would have better range, but the 20 would just suck. I can't grantee this, but just going by my experience and the internals of the barrel I think I can make a pretty sure guess.

but in all honesty with the guns they have been coming out with nowadays you really don't even need to mod a 2500 or 2000.

well best of luck with these guns and have fun =)
