Double Bottle Blaster Review

Post by zeda.beta » Sat Mar 13, 2010 12:03 am

Well, my Double Bottle Blaster came today, (also known as Big Bottle Blaster), and I was extremely surprised to find that it was a piston gun! Who would have thought?
But anyway, it performs on or above the level of the Bottle shot, the only other piston I have.
The stream is small, maybe 1.5x.
The cap is extremely small, and is difficult to get water into. I use a funnel. :D
This soaker has many shots on one tank, and is very secure if left on its side.
It uses a tracked pump, and is very easy to move and use, maybe 3-4 pounds.
More information later when it gets warmer.

Its too late for me, but I hope this thread will help prevent others from making the same mistake we did.

There's only the Bottle Shot and Bottle Blitz. What is this "Big Bottle Blaster" you speak of?

A blaster made by SS in 1997. Didn't know it even existed until this thread:

Two questions spring to mind here.

1: Could it be a fake?
2: Are you sure it's MEANT to be a piston pumper, and isn't simply broken (stuck valve and missing trigger would produce the effect).

Hopefully when VAJMH gets his he'll be able to confirm.

The Double Bottle Blaster is a piston blaster, not a fake, has a fake PC-like ornament, and it definitely meant to be a piston pumper. It's akin to the Super Soaker Splashfire that also sports a fake PC, but is a piston pumper.

Whose Responsible This? Someone will pay dearly for this outrage. I can hardly concieve that, at the same time the 2000 was on the market, some genius at Larami was wanting to market inferior pump squirt guns. Where is the logic in that!? Their company had just made the most powerful super soaker in history, and they immediately thought it prescient to make the weakest too? And the fact that it masquerades as a separate PC soaker is outrageous. Zeda, lets find this guy, get some real soakers, and do a water gun driveby. If he has any sense of shame he'll know exactly what its for.

I can fonfirm... its a piston pumper.

Well judging by the case design, the size of the bulb, and how much room is in that area, I'm not too surprised at all that it's just a piston blaster. The area between the nozzle and PC simply looks too small to be able to fit in the trigger and if you observe the thickness of the white part of the case between the reservoir and PC, and the PC and nozzle, it becomes evident that a trigger can't be fit in.

Indeed, the outside of the design is very deceptive anyhow. However, numerous piston guns have included a fake trigger just to look proper.

Be honest though. An air pressure blaster with a PC of that size is not going to be very powerful either. It'd probably be better than the terrible PC on the Arctic Shock or Overload/Secret Strike, it's still not going to be able to push out a decent stream. A pressurized reservoir blaster of that size would do a much better job.

The trigger looked very real until I tried to pump the gun and sprayed water all over my kitchen. But it still is a decent backup, even if it is the biggest dissapointment in a soaker. And yes, we should show that man what real super soakers are made of!

As far as I'm concerned, both piston and air powered water guns are made of the same thing: plastic.

A few years ago, after spending a few bucks on a Piranha off eBay and finding that it had less than favorable performance (from what I was hoping to get off of it), I learned one thing; know what you're buying and don't buy impulsively. $10 here and there could easily pile up to a soaker worth using, such as a CPS 1000.

Just started to really test this gun, and boy does it fire! It produces a 1.5 second long shot with at least 2x power!
The stream seems really coherent, until you actually let it travel a couple of yards, then it spreads out like a riot blast. It has a lot of force behind it when you are within 10 feet of your target. Distance is estimated to be 27-35 feet, but no solid numbers yet.
Edit: Just got to test the gun, and the effective range is 20-28 feet.
The last drop was at 32 feet, but because this is a piston, your numbers could vary by as much as 10 feet.
