(fixed) Max-d 3000

Post by arcticblastman » Tue May 19, 2009 9:01 pm

I fixed a max-d 3000 that would not pressurize by gluing the pump seal back to the pump rod. It broke when I pumped it, so I fixed it for my brother.

Mine did the exact same thing last summer. However, I couldn't get the pressure relief valve in the pump to not leak, so I simply plugged it up.

I wonder how common this is amongst other pressurized reservoir guns. Its not a particuarly difficult repair though... unless you can't find the part that holds the seal and the pressure relief valve. (which is the case for an old XP 90 that's been sitting in the basement before it was recovered a year or 2 ago)

I'm curious as to whether or not the Arctic Blast is mostly free of Max-D trigger issues. If yours breaks, let us know. (the Flash Flood's triggers usually break quickly, but they might have fixed that up)

My flood nozzle valve broke. I've had to manually close it by opening the gun, the flood nozzle is now completely inoperative. And the stream nozzle sometimes malfunctions too. This was after really not very much use.

I'd say the AB and FF are more prone than most to nozzle valve issues, simply because they've got two, and if just one fails the gun won't hold pressure.

Well my point is that they might have improved the AB and newer FF triggers (from what I've heard) to not break as easily. If/when it does happen, de-Max-D-ing the valve is an effective solution if you can create a good setup. Another solution is to go to the hardware store with the broken spring and try to find another one that'll work.

As for the 3000, I'm curious as to whether anyone had problems with those valves too.

I think guns later than those with the Max-D name in general have more robust valves. But they still break. My Liquidator and Aquashock Secret Strike both have unreliable (though not totally broken) valves.

I have a broken arctic shock that I tried to fix. The post that holds the spring broke when a friend slammed it on the ground. I attached a string to the valve to close it, and now it shoots about 1 foot. HELP!!!!!!!!

A string isn't elastic, so it's not going to stretch and let the valve open. You really need a spring or a rubber band for this...if you need a new mounting point, drill a hole somewhere or epoxy a new post on.

Unless "string" was a typo for "spring."

I only close the valve with the string; the trigger still opens it. I pull the string to close the valve.

Are you sure the valve is completely open when you're firing? If you've been doing diagnostics (testing with the gun partially disassembled), I suppose you've seen if there's anything you can do to keep the valve open.

The valve is fully opened, because the trigger travels the usual distance when it is pulled.

The pc exploded on my arctic shock and the firing valve fell apart. I need to make a new pc.

My pc did not explode, but the connections fell apart.

I'm not really sure what you mean by "the connections fell apart." Clarification would help.

Also, are you talking about the Arctic Shock or the Arctic Blast? Since I think one is CPS and one is air-pressure, it would affect making a new PC

The gun was taken apart and all the connections blew off. It was the arctic SHOCK. The arctic blast works fine.

Did you start disassembling it when it still had pressure? If so, that would explain it. Many guns use o-ring seals that are only held together by the outer case.

I disassembled it when all the pressure was gone, and I tried to find out why the shot was so pathetic. The pc does not shoot out water, only air.
