I just shot my 4100 for the first time since October :soakem:.....And...This is odd, it seems that the 8.5x blast on my 4100 has a better range than my 4x blast  ....

The 30X Power Mod thing for the 2700 increases range by about 10 feet from the 10X nozzle. I think it's because it lets the bladder contract faster.

I wonder if you drill out one of the nozzles to 15X what it would do :o

It won't go further if you drill the hole wrong.....but 30x? that seem a little big.....

There's actually no drilling.
Read all about it here: http://www.sscentral.net/mods/p30.php
And it ain't 30X. It's just a lot bigger.

And you get good range by doing this?....And you can do it with any gun thats has more than one nozzle? :soakem:

range is a really complex thing to figure out... the size of the nozzle has some to do with it... but not all... the nozzle has to be big enough to let the water have a coherent stream... 5x is a lil on the small side... 10x seems about right for most guns.... on 20x most guns have a very choerent stream but lack the sheer power to push the water out that big of a hole that far. so yeah... theres a trade off... im sure that there is some physics equation to talk about this but heck I sure Don't know it =P

Anything above 30X a normal soaker can't handle. Another reason that the 2700 30X mod works is because it will increase the stream coherency when the nozzle selector was removed, because the water has less to break up it's stream. Coherency is probably the biggest player in range. If your stream broke up immediately, you would get no range. Maybe the 8.5X does not break up the stream as much.

WTF!! you Don't know what your talking about on the 2700. I have one, and range decreaces when I take the nozzle selector off. And also woodrow, please stop lying about it making a red mark. I let cloud shoot me with a 2000mk2 from 3 ft on my bare stomach, and it left no mark at all. here, ill post a pic showing my 27,000 shooting a 30x shot(youll notice it has no coherency)

P.S. if the abouve pic doesn't come up, its cuz the image code wasnt coming up, so I guessed at what it was. go http://www.boomspeed.com/pepper1155/27k_30x_shot.jpg to see the pic

I really wish that "Jerry! Jerry!" smiley was still here......But, that stream doesn't look to be going very far.... :soakem:

I have the Orange one. Maybe that is what makes it like that. But it's stream it soooooo much more coherant when the nozzle selector is off. Maybe it's the 27000 thats breaks up the stream. My 2700 is broken, and it can't be fixed until next weekend. I'll make a quick fix now, but it aint permanent, and try to take a picture with my Gameboy Camera. At least I can scan in the pics immediatly, but it won't be pretty.

See attached file
This is my broken trigger. I'm going to have to repair it in the future. I shot my soaker by pulling the water release valve.
