Totokan's CPS-tech questions

Post by totokan » Sun Jun 17, 2007 2:41 pm

I've noticed that in the lids of my cps 1000 and 2000, there is a small hole with a pin in it. What is the function of this? At first I thought it was for the QFD, but it seems too small for that.

It's probably to let air in as the water get sucked up into the firing chamber.

Ah, ok. so that I don't waste space with another thread, can you direct me to a place that can show me the differences between a mk1 2 and 3 cps 2000? I've searched, but can't seem to find anything. Something with pictures is preferable, since last time I looked, I got vague answers. I only have one, so telling me the newer one has a shorter whatever doesn't help. Also, all the labels have been peeled by someone.

I don't know of the mk III (don't think there's such thing) but I know the mk I's pressure chamber pushed out more water than the mk II's, that's about the only difference as you can see by the pressure gauges. The mk II's pressure chamber is actually bigger, but expands to the same size as the mk I's, so when it contracts, it does so with less water. This was probably done for durablity. I've heard the sticker positions are irrelevant (i.e. mk I's/II's having either configuration of stickers), and really, it doesn't matter anyway.

There was a link somewhere showing pictures of the differences, but I forgot where that was, so have a look at some pics at iSoaker.

Thank you. I wasn't sure if there were two or three, so I put three to be safe.

I believe iSoaker reposted the comparison article that was apparently on http://www.techsoaker.com. Google won't find the article at iSoaker.com, and the Wayback Machine's techsoaker.com archives are messed up...weird.

On the Mk. 2, the pressure gauge goes about halfway to a ridge thing that goes around the bottom half of the water gun. On the Mk. 1, the pressure gauge goes nearly all the way to the ridge thing. It's hard to explain.

EDIT: Found the article.

Also, I don't think the Mk. 2 has a larger bladder. The bladders are the same size; the Mk. 1's can just expand a bit more, which does weaken the rubber more quickly (try it with a rubber band or a balloon). And the Mk. 2 does not have less shot time because it's more powerful and has more output; it's because the PC has less capacity.

EDIT again, 9:56 am: Actually, the article is here. The first link is a via.

Thanks, the page on wayback didn't work at all. That article proved definitively I have a mark II. The only major difference is the length of the meter on the outside, as far as i can tell, and it's an easy-to-spot difference.

Have a look:

http://www.toothpickmatt.netfirms.com/S ... /tech.html

The mk I's bladder is clearly smaller than the mk II's, while both expand to the same size.

Gotcha. Thanks for the tip, as I only saw that article ages ago. I guess I forgot the bladder was connected in the front.

I added a direct link in my earlier post, too.

If they fit the same, wouldn't it be possible to interchange the PC's on a mk I and mk II (or even a mk 1 to a 2500)?
