Training?
If you give them a MXL and they fall over, give them a lighter gun. If they can run and shoot with the lighter gun without much trouble, then let them get on the battlefield. If not, keep going down in gun size until you reach their limit. Then put them on the battlefield.
Don't worry about training. If you find after a few battles that the same people keep coming back and doing okay, then you've got your squad. If your group's big enough, then you can split up and have a battle almost everyday because now everyone has order. Then you can do a little bootcamp "Full Metal Jacket" type stuff with the ones that want to do that. They probably won't.
Again, don't worry about TRAINING! The reason most of us are here is because we simply enjoy playing soldier with water guns. There's nothing wrong with just trying to have fun instead of having a squad behind you or something. So JUST TELL YOUR FRIENDS AND TELL THEM IT'S FOR FUN!
